Maya Saxena will participate in a virtual panel hosted by the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems. The panel will be held on Thursday, May 14, and will discuss securities litigation and how it has been affected by the virus and the general economic conditions facing retirement plans. The panel will cover the renewed need for vigilance in the securities litigation area given potential downturns facing pension funds’ portfolios due to economic uncertainties. We will discuss new cases which deal specifically with companies’ alleged failures to disclose the impact of coronavirus on their financial results, as well as the trends in new cases which are being filed. The panel will also discuss how to properly evaluate and consider opportunities in the securities litigation and corporate governance areas, and how to best handle their fiduciary obligations as the current pandemic makes it difficult to follow normal routines for analyzing cases.
